Test Suite Overview
The following scenes were rendered with the Tungsten renderer and denoised using several different techniques. All techniques use the same set of auxiliary buffers. Please note that the LBF denoiser [Kalantari et al. 2015] was originally trained on a slightly different set of auxiliary buffers. In our tests, we use depth instead of world positions, and we do not export a secondary albedo, but instead have a buffer that stores the albedo of the first non-specular surface along the path. As such, our comparisons may undervalue the performance of LBF. Please refer to the 'San Miguel' scene below for an accurate comparison to LBF, for which we use the author's version of PBRT to generate the inputs for denosing.
The 'San Miguel' scene was rendered with the LBF code base, which uses the PBRT renderer.
The following scenes were rendered and denoised using the latest RenderMan release.
